Introduction: Patellar tendinopathy is commonly studied in athletes, while pes anserine tendinopathy is usually studied together with other knee disorders. This can represent an obstacle for physiotherapists as they do not have treatment models for these pathologies in other population groups. Objective: Describe the considerations for the application of a physiotherapy intervention for the treatment of knee pain due to tendinopathies in an elderly patient in the district of Chaclacayo (Lima, Peru) between September and November 2023. Professional experience: This is the case of an elderly with patellar and pes anserine tendinopathy, muscle atrophy and possible radiculopathy of the left femoral nerve. She reports intense pain when performing activities and on palpation in the left thigh. Presents shortening of the quadriceps muscle, achieving 90° of joint range of left knee flexion. The physiotherapy intervention consisted of hot and cold compresses, TENS; stretching of the quadriceps, hamstrings and hip adductors muscles; eccentric exercise for quadriceps; and ascending and descending stairs. At the end of treatment, pain was eliminated, joint range of knee flexion increased to 150°, shortening in the quadriceps muscle was completely reduced, and functionality was recovered when performing activities of daily living. Conclusion: The considerations for carrying out the proposed treatment were: the age of the patient, the choice of physical agents and the choice of exercises. These considerations can contribute to the development of treatment plans according to the characteristics of each patient who suffers from knee pain due to tendinopathies.
