Introduction. Currently, renal diseases represent a major public health challenge in Peru, given their high incidence and considerable impact on health service resources. Early detection of these diseases is crucial to ensure effective treatment, but is often met with difficulties. Many health centres use the calculation of creatinine levels using the modified Jaffé method to assess renal function, due to its availability and lower costs. Despite their widespread use, these methods have technical limitations that need to be taken into consideration Objectives. To describe the technical considerations for creatinine clearance using the modified Jaffé method at Arequipa Hospital level IIA in 2018. Description of the work. This paper provides an overview of the technical difficulties encountered in the laboratory during the creatinine clearance process and how these deficiencies were overcome. Improving the collection of 24-hour urine and blood samples, the use of strategies to reduce the limitations of the creatinine technique by the modified Jaffé method, and the development of result formats that provide useful information to the physician for diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion The careful application of appropriate techniques to accurately measure creatinine clearance using the modified Jaffe method has made it possible to overcome technical difficulties at all stages of the process. These improvements, supported by scientific evidence have optimized the test, reducing factors that affect its accuracy and providing reliable results for patients and clinicians.
