Introduction: In sports, one of the most frequent injuries is patellar tendinopathy, which is characterized by pain and thickening of the tendon due to exposure to high loads from different physical and sporting activities. Evidence-based physiotherapy will allow reinserting the athlete with patellar tendinopathy to his physical activities with better functionality. Objectives: To describe the application of physiotherapy with eccentric and progressive load exercises in an athlete with chronic patellar tendinopathy in Lima, 2023. Description of the professional experience: The physiotherapeutic strategy based on eccentric exercises and progressive load was carried out in an athlete diagnosed with chronic patellar tendinopathy from August to October 2023. It was carried out through three stages of rehabilitation and the VISA-P questionnaire was used to evaluate the impact of painful symptoms on daily and sports activities. Conclusion: Physiotherapy based on eccentric exercises and progressive loading allows adequate recovery of an athlete with chronic patellar tendinopathy. These exercises modulated pain, improved functionality and allowed the athlete to reintegrate to his sports activities.
