Introduction: Hip fracture, particularly common in older adults, often requires hip arthroplasty. The post-surgery physiotherapeutic approach focuses on preventing complications to enhance patient recovery and quality of life. However, it is important to define evidence-based considerations for addressing joint range reduction, decreased functionality, and muscle weakness affecting gait. Objective: To describe the considerations employed and limitations observed in physiotherapeutic intervention in an elderly postoperative hip arthroplasty patient, conducted in private practice over a six-month period in Ambo – Huánuco in 2022. Case Description: An elderly patient aged 80 years was diagnosed with a hip fracture following a fall at home, leading to total hip arthroplasty surgery. Following the procedure, the patient received home-based physiotherapeutic treatment for 6 months, based on evidence-based considerations. Conclusions: Postoperative physiotherapeutic intervention in an elderly hip arthroplasty patient was based on the application of 4 evidence-based considerations: kinesiotherapy, manual therapy, muscle strengthening, and gait re-education. Our professional experience suggests that the proper application of these considerations can prevent complications, accelerate recovery, and facilitate the patient's reintegration into daily activities.
