The objective of this research is to describe the differentiated strategies that teachers apply in teaching reading to students in the third cycle of Basic Education. The type of research was quantitative, observational design and descriptive level. The unit of analysis was the record of digital information on the teaching of reading in students of the third cycle of basic education that was stored in the database of the Unit of Research on Improving the Quality of Basic Education (UIMCEB) of the Faculty of Education of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. These data have been generated in the development of intervention programs for the educational projects executed by said entity. The sample population was made up of 102 session minutes belonging to 34 teachers of the third cycle of Basic Education from 9 public institutions in districts of Metropolitan Lima. The results showed that in 62.74 % of the recorded sessions the teachers did not apply any of the differentiated reading teaching strategies. 21.56 % of the recorded sessions showed that teachers applied the pair work strategy and only 7.84 % used the workshop strategy; and in no case was the strategy called cooperative groups applied. It was observed that during the reading teaching sessions, teachers do not frequently apply differentiated strategies and they make very limited use of the pair work strategy.
