Introduction: Chest x-ray is essential in neonates, especially premature ones. Given that each neonate may undergo this examination approximately 5 times during their hospitalization, it is crucial that the radiology medical technologist perform adequate acquisition of the examination. Objective: Describe the technical recommendations applied for adequate acquisition of digital chest x-rays in neonates from two private clinics in metropolitan Lima between November 2023 - January 2024. Description of work: After identifying errors in the chest x-ray, a scientific review was carried out to improve the examination technique. Adjustments were made to the exposure parameters according to the type of incubator and the characteristics of the neonate. An average source-to-receiver distance of 80 cm and effective communication with nurses for positioning the neonate are recommended. Conclusions: The work provides technical recommendations to obtain radiographic images of neonates, addressing exposure parameters, geometry of the radiation field and positioning of the neonate; depending on the type of incubator, digitization system and clinical condition of the patient. Addresses the importance of proper radiographic acquisition in terms of radiation safety and professional ethics.
