Introduction: The availability of contraceptives implies optimal supply in each institution. In Peru, the COVID-19 pandemic generated an imbalance in the health system and with it the suspension of care and interruption of the drug supply chain at the national and international level. Objective: To analyze the availability of contraceptive drugs in two level II hospitals in the San Martín Region, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: The research is descriptive and cross-sectional. All contraceptive drugs from the two-level II hospitals in the San Martín region that record monthly consumption and stock information in the Integrated Consumption Report (ICI), and that are reported in the SISMED computer application, were analyzed. Results: The percentage availability of contraceptive drugs in two level II hospitals in the San Martín region prior to the COVID-19 pandemic was regular, while during the pandemic it was low. Likewise, at the stock level, before the pandemic, a greater number of MAC was registered in normostock and overstock, as opposed to understock and shortages; however, during the pandemic the condition of stocked and understocked MACs were higher compared to pre-pandemic MACs. In addition, it is evident that in absolute values the stock decreases for all the MAC, while the consumption did not have significant variations in both stages. Conclusions: The availability of contraceptive drugs before the pandemic was better than during the pandemic. This is because 26 months of low percentage availability were recorded during COVID-19, as MAC distribution in the supply chain was suspended.
