Abstract: Antecedentes: La COVID-19 es una afección caracterizada por atacar principalmente a las vías respiratorias e incluso en algunos casos ocasionar la muerte. Por tanto, los centros dentales son pieza clave para obtener estrategias de vigilancia, control y gestión del riesgo que permitan brindar un entorno seguro. Objetivo: Reportar los casos positivos de la vigilancia epidemiológica de COVID-19 en un Centro Dental Docente, Perú, 2021-2023. Materiales y métodos: Estudio transversal. Se llevó a cabo el plan de vigilancia COVID-19 del Centro Dental Docente de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia de junio del 2021 a abril del 2023, con un total de 1623 registros de estudiantes y docentes. El plan fue liderado por la Unidad de Investigación en Salud Pública y Gestión Estomatológica. Resultados: Se reportó un total de 120 casos positivos de COVID-19, el pico más alto fue en la tercera ola, mientras que en el 2023 no se tuvo ningún caso. Conclusiones: El año donde hubo más casos fue en el 2022 representando el 92.5%(n=110) y el grupo más afectado fue el de estudiantes de posgrado siendo el 57.5% (n=69) de totales positivos.
Background: COVID-19 is a condition characterized by attacking mainly the respiratory tract and even in some cases causing death. Therefore, dental centres are key to obtain control and risk management strategies to provide a safe environment. Aim: Report positive cases from the epidemiological surveillance of COVID-19 in a Teaching Dental Center, Peru, 2021-2023. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study. The COVID-19 surveillance plan of the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia was carried out from June 2021 to April 2023. A total of 1623 records were collected among students and teachers. The plan was led by the Public Health Research and Dental Management Unit. Findings: A total of 120 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported, the highest peak was in the third wave. In 2023 there were no cases. Conclusions: 2022 was the year where there were more representing 92.5%(n=110) of the total. And the most affected group was the graduate students with 57.5% (n=69) of total positives.
