Introduction: Tuberculosis is a pathology that persists worldwide in public health, which demands urgent attention to reduce the mortality rate. Peru is the second country with a large number of cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, this affects the poor areas of the country the most. Objective: Establish the relationship between the level of knowledge of patients about Pulmonary Tuberculosis and the risk of abandoning the treatment of the disease. Material and Methods: Quantitative approach study, descriptive and transversal. The study was carried out with a population of 45 patients over 18 years of age with a diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis. For data collection, the survey was used as a technique and for the instrument two questionnaires already validated by Aquino and Aguilar, the data were coded and then entered into a database in MS Excel for statistical analysis, with the Stata Version 17.0 program., in frequency distribution tables. Results: It was identified that 75,6% of the patients surveyed with pulmonary tuberculosis had a medium level of knowledge and 13,3% had a low level of knowledge. It was also identified that Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient shows a negative correlation or inverse (Rho= -0,730) between both variables, which was statistically significant (p=0,001). Conclusion: The majority of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who attended the San Martin de Porres Base health center have a medium level of knowledge and low risk of abandonment.
