Introduction: Burnout syndrome is triggered in response to chronic job stress. The prevalence of burnout in physicians and nurses increased during the covid-19 pandemic. In Peru, there is evidence of disparity in hospital resources according to health insurers and geographic regions, and to investigate the prevalence of burnout in physicians and nurses according to these axes is a subject that has not yet been studied. Objectives: Describe the prevalence of burnout in physicians and nurses working in hospitals in Peru before, during and after the covid-19 pandemic, according to sociodemographic variables, health insurers and geographic regions. Methodology: A scoping review study, was conducted using PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs and Google Scholar between January 2015 and January 2024. Results and conclusions: The age range of physicians with burnout was between 25 and 39 years, in nurses between 38 and 48 years; no predominance was found regarding sex. During the pandemic, SIS had the highest prevalence in nurses (19.85%) and physicians (14.9%), representing increases of 336.2% and 1.36% respectively. During the pandemic, an increase in burnout was observed in all geographic regions, with emphasis on nurses. During the pandemic, the lowest prevalence of burnout was observed in the highlands, possibly due to the lower morbidity and mortality due to covid-19 in this geographic region. Finally, regarding the quality analysis of the studies, 51% presented medium quality, 45% high quality and 4% low quality.
