Aging is a prolonged and irreversible process that gives rise to different biopsychosocial changes. The majority of older adults need a caregiver whose responsibility falls mainly on a family member who is dedicated to their care and in some cases they do not receive help, causing alterations in the work, social and family aspects of their daily life. Objective: To determine the personal characteristics and the level of overload of the main caregiver of the dependent elderly in a San Martín de Porres health center, Lima 2023. Material and methods: The study was of a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive and cross-sectional, carried out with the participation of 73 main caregivers who met the inclusion criteria. Results: 45,21% of caregivers had a diagnosis of intense overload. This diagnosis is more common in women with 72.60% and in the age range of 50 to 60 years with 54.79%. Conclusion: More than half of the caregivers who received care at the Health Center experienced some level of overload, the most common being intense overload. This situation is predominantly observed in women and in the age group between 50 and 60 years.
