University students can be susceptible to emotional exhaustion, and the study of self-regulation in this regard and commitment to carrying out and participating in their academic activities is very relevant. The objective was to establish whether emotional exhaustion and emotional regulation predict academic commitment in university students in the San Martín Region; because it sought to analyze the relationships between the variables in order to predict and/or explain their behavior. The methodology used corresponded to the cross-sectional predictive design. The stratified probabilistic sample (n=76) was made up of university students between 18 and 56 years of age and enrolled in private universities in the San Martín Region. The Emotional Exhaustion, Emotional Regulation and Utrech Commitment scales, abbreviated version, were applied. A multiple regression analysis was performed with entry method. The results indicate that the resulting equation was not statistically significant F (2,73) = .964, p = .386, observing that emotional exhaustion and emotional regulation do not predict academic commitment. Likewise, a statistical analysis was carried out, determining the respective correlations. The results show that there is a highly significant relationship (0.004 < 0.01) between Emotional Exhaustion and Emotional Regulation, however, there is no relationship between Emotional Exhaustion and Academic Engagement (0.468 > 0.05), nor between Emotional Regulation and Engagement. (0.795 > 0.05). On the other hand, it is evident that there is a highly significant relationship (0.002 < 0.01) between emotional exhaustion and suppression.
