Background: Entoparasites or intestinal parasitosis cause serious infections in the digestive tract, it is considered a public health problem that is related to poor hygiene habits and a low socioeconomic level. Objective: To determine the prevalence of enteroparasitosis in the student population of the "San Cristóbal de Paria - Huaraz" School. Method and Materials: a prospective, descriptive, comparative study was carried out in the student population of the "San Cristóbal" school of the C.P.M. Paria of the city of Huaraz. Paria of the city of Huaraz, between May and June 1999. A total of 262 students of both sexes, between 6 and 20 years of age, were studied. Results: Of the samples obtained by the "serial × 3" collection method and evaluated by direct examination, 193 (73.70%) cases were positive for intestinal parasitosis. Samples obtained by the 3-1 formalin collection method and analyzed by direct examination detected parasitosis in 196 (74.8%). Samples thus obtained and analyzed by concentration examination determined that 201 of the students (76.1%) tested positive for intestinal parasitosis. Conclusions: The student population of the school "San Cristobal del CPM de Paria Wilcahuain, presents a high prevalence of enteroparasitosis.
