In the past, programs that protect workers' health began with the process of occupational medical evaluations. Subsequently, these evaluations were limited to the job position and specifically to certain exposures that may occur during the work day. Occupational medical evaluations could be carried out by all doctors and in some countries only by those who had some authorization. Subsequently, health services were installed in the workplace, the purpose of which was to carry out these evaluations, take care of the worker for problems whose origin is work-related, and ensure the general state of health. Workers' health evaluations are the basis of any health prevention program and aim to determine anomalies allowing timely intervention; evaluate control measures; strengthen safe methods of health maintenance and monitoring. Occupational medical evaluations must be reliable, confidential, and workers must be informed of both the results and potential risks. These evaluations must be carried out in categorized and accredited occupational health establishments. Which must have outpatient services of occupational medicine, functional tests and complementary examinations. The occupational doctor of the establishment is responsible for preparing the occupational medical history, performing the clinical examination and interpreting functional tests as required; for which it will issue a report that will be delivered to the occupational doctor who carries out health surveillance in companies or institutions with prior consent of the worker. Occupational medical evaluations can be classified into: entry or preoccupational medical examination, periodic medical examination, retirement or discharge medical examination and other medical evaluations.
