Introduction: Nutritional anemia is directly related to food, which involves biological, cultural and social aspects that are immersed in the family environment. The feeding process develops through interactions between family members. Objective: To describe the experience in feeding the child from 6 to 35 months of age with nutritional anemia in the family environment from the perspective of the mothers responsible for feeding. Design: Qualitative research, case study. Location: Santa Anita District. Participants: 6 mothers of children with anemia between 6-35 months. Methodology: Qualitative study, theoretical sampling. Six in-depth interviews were carried out, described separately, to later analyze similarities and differences. Results: The mothers assume the responsibility of feeding and recovering from anemia in the children, some received this request from their partners, who together with the rest of the members maintain a limited participation in the whole process. Other people’s advice and poor communication between parents were the main difficulties. Conclusion: The experience of feeding children with anemia is marked by a feeding process that is under the responsibility and commitment of the mothers, whose decisions for the establishment of changes in feeding practices face eating habits, perceptions, as well as recommendations from different sources. During this process, there is a limited participation of the rest of the members and the mothers perceive a difference in the roles and the division of labor that they exercise, generating instability in the family environment.
