In COVID-19 infection caused by SARS-CoV-2, immunity mechanisms are essential for an effective response against this virus. In COVID-19, little is known about the mechanisms that involve cytokines and their ability to stimulate the production of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies directly or indirectly. Even more so, given the advent of vaccines, there is no information on how they could exert an effect on the cytokine-antibody axis. Along these lines, our study determined TNF-α and IgG (anti-spike) antibodies levels in vaccinated subjects. We found that only in G1 (vaccinated with third dose of Pfizer and with infection) there was a statistically significant increase in TNF-α after receiving this dose compared to before the same dose; The levels of IgG (anti-spike) antibodies measured before and after the third dose of Pfizer (G1 and G2) or Astrazeneca (G3) did not change and a statistically significant correlation was not found between both variables; However, it is necessary to increase the sample size and study more points in time. This exploratory study opens a line of research in the cytokine-anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody axis and the induction of the humoral response by vaccines.
