The present investigation was to determine the relationship between functional dependency and accessibility to health services in the elderly person (PAM), in a province of Cajamarca where health services are limited as in most cities in the interior of Peru. Likewise, the study was observational, correlational and cross-sectional, whose sample was 341 older adults. To collect the data, the Functional Dependency and Accessibility to Health Services questionnaires were applied. The objectives were answered through the Spearman correlation test. Then the results showed that the average age of the older adults was 75.4±8.9 years, 59.5% were women, 62.5% were not educated, 32.6% were cohabitants, 91.8% had SIS as health insurance and 90% He had a main caregiver. Furthermore, the majority of adults presented moderate dependence (44.6%) and accessibility to health services was average (55.4%). On the other hand, a significant correlation was identified between functional dependency and accessibility to health services (p=0.000; Rho=0.370), also with the physical-geographic dimensions (p=0.000; Rho=0.221); organizational administrative (p=0.000; Rho=0.305), sociocultural (p=0.000; Rho=0.299) and economic (p=0.000; Rho=0.228). Therefore, it is concluded that functional dependence implies less accessibility and functional independence greater accessibility to health services.
