The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the population to various stressful situations that affect their mental health. Therefore, this study was conducted due to the scarce scientific evidence on stressors in mothers in this context. Objective: To determine the presence of stressors and sociodemographic characteristics of mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic in an educational institution. Material and methods: A non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study. A total of 124 mothers participated, to whom the validated questionnaire of stressors, based on the "EPISTRES" instrument, was applied with prior informed consent. Results: The sociodemographic characteristics that prevailed were: 51.6% were between 26 and 35 years old, 54.8% had a high school education, 61.3% were married or cohabiting, 57.3% were housewives and 38.7% had an average of 2 children. Likewise, stressful life events were: 87.1% lack of support at home in performing household chores, 86.3% low family budget to cover expenses in food, studies, house payment or rent, among others, 75.8% increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in their community, 74.2% long working hours in the development of their work activities, 45.2% family conflicts (fights or arguments) with their partner, children and other family members. Conclusions: There is the presence of stressors, characterized by stressful life events during the COVID-19 pandemic in mothers of families.
