Background: Diverticular disease presents significant morbidity and the prevalence varies between countries. The DICA scale is a recent endoscopic method with the ability to evaluate diverticular disease and predict the appearance of acute diverticulitis in the long term. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the distribution of the Peruvian population regarding the DICA SCORE and the factors related to this scale at the Arzobispo Loayza national hospital, Lima, 2022. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. 166 patients with colonoscopy studies and biochemical profiles were analyzed during the period from October 2021 to December 2022. To determine the strength of association, a simple logistic regression was used. Results: The median age was 65 years and 58% were women. It was observed that having an indication for colonoscopy due to abdominal pain increases the probability of being categorized as DICA 2. Conclusions: A high prevalence of DICA 1 (95%) and a low prevalence of DICA 2 (5%) was found. Pain as an indication for colonoscopy provides a greater probability of presenting a DICA 2 in the colonoscopic evaluation (OR 10.4, 95% CI 1.2-86.5).
