Yersinia ruckeri is recognized as a bacterial pathogen that mainly affects rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), generating economic losses in the sector. It is considered the most genetically distant species within its genus and for having variable serotypes, phenotypes, biotypes, and differences with other members of the Yersiniaceae; In addition, the scarcity of information on the phylogenetic relationships between isolates from different regions of the country is evident. The objective of this study was to genotypically characterize 15 pathogenic strains of Y. ruckeri, isolated from rainbow trout from Junín, Lima and Ancash by Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST). These strains were identified by means of biotyping tests; six housekeeping genes were amplified, purified, and sequenced, and the allelic profile and type of sequences (ST) were obtained by comparing the results obtained with the PubMLST database for each strain. Two STs were identified and the BURST algorithm confirmed that the Y. ruckeri population is clonal. The phylogenetic analysis determined a relationship between the STs found. Studies such as this one will allow us to understand genetic diversity, population dynamics, identify the probable origin of this pathogen and adopt better measures to prevent epizootics.
