Brachyplatystoma vaillantii, popularly known in Peru as Manitoa, is a resource of commercial value for direct human consumption and for ornamental activity in the juvenile stage, however, the diversity of unidentified and little-studied pathogens limits the productivity of Amazonian species, therefore, the study aimed to identify and morphologically describe the genera of endoparasites present in visceral cavities, muscle, spleen, liver, and intestines in Manitoa. The samples were acquired from the three main local markets in the city of Iquitos, using the probabilistic test method considering a sample size of 60 specimens. The fish were examined by direct observation and the parasites were collected, fixed and clarified to be identified by classical taxonomy. Obtaining as a result: larvae of Anisakis sp. and Contracaecum sp., Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp., Sebekia sp. and Genarchella sp. The parasite indices are calculated, being larva of Anisakis sp. the parasite with higher frequency (F%= 93.33) and mean intensity (Im=55.97) and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. With less frequency (F%=3.33) and medium intensity (Im=0.1). The parasites identified in this work can represent a health risk in the host, it is recommended to carry out more biological studies and pathological aspects of these parasites since they can affect one of the main economic activities of the Peruvian Amazon.
