Background: Currently, anemia is considered a public health problem that affects worldwide, with infants under 5 years of age being the most affected group, because at this stage a good diet is required for their healthy growth, development intellectual and cognitive, where the primary caregiver plays a fundamental role in the prevention of anemia, through the preparation of balanced meals that contain proteins, minerals and carbohydrates for the prevention of iron deficiency anemia. Objective: To determine the relationship between the primary caregiver's eating practices with the presence of iron deficiency anemia in children aged 6 to 35 months at the Centro de Salud "Cerro la Regla", 2022. Material and methods: Descriptive-correlational study and quantitative approach. Results: Of the total number of children, 18.75% presented moderate anemia and 63.75% did not present anemia. Regarding eating practices, 73.75% of primary caregivers presented good practices. Likewise, a significant association was found between both variables with a value of p=0.000. In the same way, a low positive correlation between eating practices and the amount of hemoglobin (r=0.382; p=0.000). Conclusions: A positive relationship was found between the feeding practices of the primary caregiver with the presence of iron deficiency anemia in children.
