Objective: To explore the motivations of adolescents that go to the Youth Development Center, and their perceptions about the sexual and reproductive health service. Material and methods: Qualitative case study. Intentional sampling of 30 participants. Results: The motivations for which the adolescent population attends the Center varies according to gender. The male and female adolescent population that doesn´t go to the Center is due to prejudices about public health services, because they perceive it as a place to care for people with problems, due to ignorance, and women mention as an additional reason the limited time they must assume housework. The perception of adolescent users and non-users about the infrastructure, equipment and organization is that they are limited by the absence of contraceptives, pregnancy, STI and HIV screenings, and by the lack of permanent availability of professionals, especially psychologists The adolescent user population refers to valuing the health professional for their good treatment. Conclusions: This type of Center must be comprehensive and for this it must not only offer sexual and reproductive health benefits but also mental health, in addition to actions in families, schools and the community. The personnel selected for this type of service must have vocation and good treatment for working with adolescents, as well as training for it, since this determines that they continue to attend.
