Currently, we live in a context of permanent demand, requiring professionals capable of solving problems, for which a change in the methodology of how to teach and learn is necessary, in order to develop research skills in young people. The study evaluates the effects of the ABP, in the development of the Investigative Skills of the students of the 1st semester of the Electrotechnical Components course of the Senati Higher School of Technology. This research has a quantitative approach, experimental type, explanatory level and quasi-experimental design. The sample was made up of 30 students, divided into groups of 15. The ABP was applied to the experimental group and a Pre test and a Post test were used to measure the investigative abilities of the students. The findings of this investigation allowed to verify that, in the Post test, of a maximum of 51 points, the experimental group obtained an achievement whose average was 33.60 in the development of investigative skills compared to the control group that obtained 24.00, then they were carried out the normality tests, using the Shapiro Wilk test, which allowed the use of the Student's T or Mann Whitney U Test. It was concluded that the average scores in both groups present statistically significant differences, demonstrating the positive effect of PBL on the development of Investigative Skills.
