The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a training program for the development of social skills in students of the Maintenance Mechanics career at a Higher Institute of Lima, 2017. The research approach was quantitative, of an applied type, with a quasi-experimental design, which used two study groups; an experimental group and a control group. In both groups, a pretest was applied at the beginning and a posttest at the end of the experience. A non-probabilistic sampling was carried out for convenience and the sample consisted of 34 students from the Maintenance Mechanics career. A 14-session training program was applied, where the Goldstein Social Skills Questionnaire was used as an instrument, which consists of six dimensions such as: First social skills, Advanced social skills, Skills related to feelings, Alternative skills to Aggression, Stress Coping Skills, and Planning Skills. For data reliability, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was used and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for the comparison of two independent samples. It was concluded that the training program has significant effects for the development of social skills in students of the Maintenance Mechanics career at a Higher Institute of Lima, 2017.
