EM technology consists of the use of efficient microorganisms, mainly lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarun and Lactobacillus casei), phototrophic bacteria (Rhodopseudomonas palustris), and yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisae). It acts as a probiotic, displaces pathogens, and improves the quality of swimming pool water. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of efficient microorganisms (EM) on water quality and production parameters in Nile Tilapia fingerlings (Oreochromis niloticus), applying it directly to the water for 60 days. Having a control group without dose (G0), a first study group (G1) where a dose of 8 ml/50 L of activated product was applied (≥ 1.9x10⁵ UFC/ml) and a second study group (G2) with a dose of 16.5 ml/50 L of activated product (≥ 3.9x10⁵ UFC/ml) in a system without water exchange. It was found that the higher concentration of ME has a positive effect on the final weight of the fingerlings, while the lower concentration decreases nitrite levels more effectively, improving water quality.
