The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between academic burnout and stress coping strategies in students of a private university in Metropolitan Lima in the year 2022. This is relevant in terms of the information that dates on the visible cases of symptoms of academic burnout presented by university students. The sample consisted of 316 students between the ages of 17 and 23 of the first academic year and belonging to health careers at a private university in Metropolitan Lima. The methodology is of a non-experimental type and of a correlational design, whose processing was analyzed in the Stata software through the Pearson r statistic. To measure the variables, the Maslach Burnout-Student Survey Inventory (MBI-SS) and the Academic Stress Coping Strategies Scale (A-CEA) were used. The results found that there is no relationship between academic burnout and coping strategies for academic stress in university students (r= -0.0270). In the same way, no relationship was found between academic burnout and the three stress coping strategies. On the other hand, it was obtained that the students evaluated present academic burnout, with the average level standing out (37.97%) and the dimensions of academic efficacy (48.10%) and emotional exhaustion (35.44%) being the ones with the greatest presence at the same level. Regarding the most used coping strategy for academic stress, it was found that it was planning (50.95%) at a high level.
