Background: In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that 24% of the world’s population had parasitosis, especially those from developing countries. In Peru, only a few studies have been conducted that determine the frequency of intestinal parasitosis (IP). The level II-1 José Hernán Soto Cadenillas National Hospital (JHSC) is one of the main health establishments in Chota that has collected information about IP since 2 011; however, this data has not been analyzed. Objective: To determine the frequency of IP in patients admitted by outpatient service to the JHSC hospital between 2 011 and 2 019. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional analysis of the data collected by the hospital and the Subregional Health Directorate (DISA) of Chota. Results: The frequency of IP was 4.17% (95% IC 4,06-4,27). The diagnosis with the largest number of cases was Giardiasis. More than 60% of those infected were female and belonged to the age group of 0 to 11 years. Conclusions: A decreasing trend in the frequency of IP was observed throughout the years 2 011 and 2 019. We identified as possible causes for this trend the better access to drinking water and drainage, the good management of IP’s preventive measures, and the great number of asymptomatic cases. However, further studies are required to determine the main factor for the decrease of the IP frequency in the Chota district.
