This research studied the reading practices developed by 4-year-old boys and girls from a private educational institution in the district of Los Olivos in a context of remote emergency teaching (ERE). The texts available for reading in this new form of education were the following: a) traditional media such as books; and (b) technological support such as cell phone screens and laptops. Therefore, the theoretical bases of the research refer to the classification and characteristics of these literate artifacts and to the types of reading and strategies for approaching the text developed in this interaction scenario. Regarding the methodology, the research was qualitative, under the descriptive method with an ethnographic design. Three 4-year-old boys and two girls were used as informants. The applied techniques were the semi-structured interview and participant observation. The first, in a recorded videoconference with the participants around a questionnaire of ten questions. And the second during eight sessions of synchronous reading recorded in an anecdote. Likewise, the filming of a reading moment of a traditional support artifact shared between each participant and one of their parents was taken as an important input. As a result, a total of twelve reading practices developed by all the participants were obtained and that constitute reading dynamics that include strategies to recognize components of the book and question the text, and mechanisms for affirmation and affective bonding with the story and the characters, feasible to transfer from a face-to-face modality to a remote one.
