Sexism is a problem that leads to multiple repercussions in the life of those who suffer from it, these attitudes are manifested through discrimination and lead to considering women as inferior, as well as being covertly presented through apparently prosocial behaviors that limit women to certain roles by considering them weak. The present investigation sought to find out the adjustment of an explanatory model of sexism based on parenting styles, interpersonal values and the open-mindedness dimension of personality in Psychology students of a Private University of Trujillo. This work is of the explanatory substantive type, it has an explanatory design with latent and observable variables, it seeks to answer a theoretical problem about the adjustment of an explanatory model. We worked with a sample of 160 students to whom instruments were applied that allowed collecting information about the aforementioned variables. The results found showed the need to respecify the model initially proposed, once this is done, an adequate model is found, x²(7) = 14.8, p < .001, CFI = .929, GFI = .944, RMSEA = .083, SRMR = .021, confirming the research hypothesis that indeed parenting styles, interpersonal values and the open-mindedness dimension are explanatory variables of sexism.
