Introduction: Medication errors are considered one of the most prevalent nursing errors, with few updated studies that confront them in newborns, who are a vulnerable group. The still lacking medical literature tells us that Neonatology is one of the disciplines most exposed to these errors being made, particularly in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Objective: To determine the predisposing factors and the level of knowledge about medication errors of nurses in neonatal intensive care units of three health institutions. Material and method: The study is descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional. The population will be made up of 40 nurses from the NICU of the “San Bartolomé” Mother Child National Teaching Hospital, Santa Rosa Hospital and the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital. The instruments will be a Checklist on predisposing factors and the Knowledge Level Questionnaire on Medication Errors that will be prepared by the researcher, validated by expert judgment and pilot test. Analysis plan: The reliability of the instruments will be calculated using Cronbach's Alpha scale. The data will be coded and entered into a database in MS Excel; their analysis will be carried out with the Stata program version 17.0. The results will be presented in tables and graphs.
