The main objective of this study was to determine the validity of the explanatory model on happiness based on gratitude, irrational beliefs and religious beliefs in students from private universities in Lima Metropolitana, during the state of emergency due to COVID-19. It has an explanatory model since it is based on the use of structural equation arrays. 137 students were evaluated with the Escala de Felicidad de Lima, the Escala de Gratitud (both from Alarcón), the Ellis’ Registro de Opiniones and the Escala de Actitud Religiosa (Orozco-Parra & Dominguez-Espinosa), with prior informed consent. It was concluded that the proposed model is valid. It was found that there is an influence of gratitude on happiness, of religious beliefs on happiness, and of irrational beliefs on happiness (although no correlation between the last two). On the other hand, it was observed that 67.2% of those evaluated indicated that they were happy and that they had a high level of gratitude. It was also found that the irrational beliefs that greatly limit the lives of those evaluated are beliefs 4, 5 and 8. Finally, 79.6% of those evaluated indicated that they had a moderate religious attitude.
