The digital competence is considered key for the social, labor, educational and other performance of the life of XXI century citizens. In particular, the digital information competence (search, evaluation and storage of information on the web) is essential to function in the different areas of today's life and many empirical antecedents find psychological and social aspects linked to this competence. Despite its importance, even more so during the pandemic, research on this topic in Peru is very scarce. For this reason, it was proposed to validate a model of predictive factors of digital information competence in high school students, including factors such as motivation, interaction in virtual contexts, use of technologies, possession of digital devices, among others, in addition to analyze this model according to the type of school and according to the sex of the students. A structural equation model (SEM) was used, with a multivariate correlational design. It was determined that motivation, interaction in virtual learning contexts, mother's education, activities with ICT for homework are predictive of digital information competence.
