Late blight, caused by the pathogen oomycete Phytophthora infestans, is the main disease that affects potato crops. Because of this threat to food security, resistance genes against P. infestans have been identified in commercial potato cultivars to be used in breeding and crop improvement programmes. However, few studies have evaluated molecular resistance in potato landraces. Here, we used bioinformatic tools to determine biological functions, metabolic pathways and functional relationships among putative proteins of differential expressed genes in Solanum goniocalyx by its susceptible and resistant reaction to Phytophthora infestans POX-67 at 0 and 48 hours post inoculation (hpi). The results show more expressed genes that encode kinases, NBS-LRR proteins and proteins related to secondary metabolites storage in the basal state of the resistant accession Wira Pasña (CIP 704270) compared to the susceptible Sumaq Perqa (CIP 703777), which could confer a constitutive advantage against biotic stress. However, the resistance against late blight in Wira Pasña would be given by NBS-LRR genes, being found genes annotated as Rpi-vnt1 known to confer resistance against the POX-67 isolate. In addition, it was found genes that encode proteins involved in retrotransposition mechanisms, which could regulate the expression of resistance genes to P. infestans in Wira Pasña.
