The objective of this present document analysis is to examine national and international scientific studies on innovations in psychological intervention for emotional regulation (ER) in adults providing information about the conceptualization of variables, assessment instruments on emotion regulation, theoretical models for approaching it, research related to this topic, as well as theoretical reflections in relation to the exposed information. Therefore, exhaustive research has been carried out on the scientific literature of the last five years using PUBMED, EBSCO, SCIELO, REDALYC, SCIENCEDIRECT, PSYCINFO, ELSEVIER, E-LIBRO databases, as well as academic repositories belonging to college. Studies that address innovative psychological interventions for ER provide favorable results in the adult population, which as a whole show an improvement in ER and psychological well-being, a reduction in depressive, anxious, and stress symptoms, as well as less psychological distress and emotional reactivity. Collected innovations include contextual and contemporary psychotherapies, combined approaches, meditation, support elements such as music and exercise, as well as tools in the virtual modality. Future studies are expected to delve deeper into treatments focused on ER using it as a powerful resource to counteract mental disorders.
