The present study aims to reduce the level of anxiety and dysfunctional behaviors present in a 40-year-old female patient with a presumptive diagnosis of mixed anxiety-depressive disorder by restructuring the irrational thoughts present in her. As a study method, the psychological interview, behavioral observation, mental examination, anamnesis, ABC chart, clinical history, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and the Distress Thermometer (TD) and the list of problems were used as evaluation and measurement strategies. A presumptive diagnosis of Mixed Anxiety-Depressive Disorder is concluded, and, in the conceptualization of the case, irrational beliefs expressed in demands towards herself, the world and others were found, generating in her the emotion of high intensity anxiety and maladaptive behaviors such as screaming and social isolation. Subsequently, the intervention carried out under the guidelines of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) is detailed, making use of cognitive, emotional and behavioral techniques typical of the approach in question. Likewise, the semistructured interview with the client, the ABC chart, the Distress Thermometer (TD) and the list of problems were administered as evaluation instruments for the intervention. As for the results obtained, the objective of the study was achieved, since the user formulated rational beliefs instead of irrational ones, decreased her anxiety from 9 points to 3 points, as well as her maladaptive behaviors. Finally, the efficacy of the intervention is concluded by showing the cognitive, emotional and behavioral changes in the client, achieving the proposed objectives.
