OBJECTIVE: To determine the epidemiological and histopathological characteristics of pleomorphic adenoma registered in the oral pathology laboratory of UPCH between the years 1991-2018. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The type of study is cross-sectional, observational, descriptive and retrospective; this project was developed through the collection of information from the anatomopathological records and on histopathological slides collected from the Oral Pathology Laboratory of the teaching dental clinic of the faculty of stomatology UPCH that had as a diagnosis the presence of pleomorphic adenoma and thus inspect the histopathological characteristics. Also, a bivariate analysis was carried out by means of the chi-square test to find if the variables are associated. RESULTS: It was observed that PA has a prevalence in the female sex with 51.43%, with respect to the age group, the group of 30-39 years was the most prevalent. It was shown that the hard palate was the most frequent (31.42%). Among the microscopic characteristics, the most prevalent type of PA stroma was the classic type (54.28%) and it was more frequent to observe the completely encapsulated PA. Among its components the most prevalent of PA were the plasmacytoid cells (71.43%). CONCLUSION: PA predominated in the female sex and in the age between 30-39 years. Regarding the histopathological characteristics, the most frequent location was in the hard palate, the most prevalent stroma was the classic type and with a higher frequency of encapsulation.
