Background: Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) ensure that patient management is evidence-based, so it is important to determine physician adherence to these guidelines. Objective: To evaluate adherence to the recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of bronchiolitis of the 2014 Bronchiolitis Clinical Practice Guideline at Hospital Cayetano Heredia (HCH) during 2018-2019. Methods and Materials: Cross-sectional, descriptive and retrospective study. We reviewed 137 medical records of patients discharged with a diagnosis of bronchiolitis from the Pediatrics Service of the HCH, using an instrument created for this study, which recorded the variables of age, sex, hospitalization ward and 19 items that evaluated compliance with the CPG. Descriptive and bivariate analysis was performed. Results: Adherence to the guideline recommendations for diagnosis was 99.2%. Adherence to the recommendation for "oxygen therapy only with saturation greater than 92%" was 44.5%; for "do not use respiratory physiotherapy", 63.5%; and for "do not use hypertonic saline", 79.5%. For the recommendation on respiratory physiotherapy, it was shown that being attended in Pediatrics ward C was associated with a higher probability of not complying with the guideline (p=0.03) and being attended in Pediatrics ward A was associated with a higher probability of complying (p=0.011). Conclusion: It was observed that there was almost total adherence to the recommendations of the guidelines for diagnosis and variable adherence to the recommendations for management.
