Introduction: Postpartum hemorrhage and preeclampsia are obstetric pathologies that present high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in low-resource countries. Some investigations have shown the coexistence of postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Objectives: To describe the frequency of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) due to uterine atony (UA) in pregnant woman with preeclampsia with severe features (PEC with SF) who were admitted to Hospital Cayetano Heredia (HCH) during the study period, and to describe the clinical characteristics of the patients who presented both pathologies. Materials and methods: A retrospective, descriptive, case series study was carried out. The information was obtained from the HCH Perinatal Information of women who were hospitalized and completed their pregnancy during the period from April to November of 2021. Results: The frequency of PPH due to UA in pregnant women with PEC with SF was 13.25%. We found 24 patients who presented both pathologies. The average age was 29 years, 50% were nulliparous, 50% were multiparous, 87.5% had no history of previous cesarean sections, 87.5% had abdominal delivery, 41.66% had obstetric complications, the most frequent being HELLP syndrome (16.66%) and abruptio placentae (16.66%), and 8.33% were admitted to ICU. Conclusions: The frequency of PPH due to UA in pregnant women with PEC with SF was similar and in some cases lower than the results of other studies.
