Objective: to determine the factors associated with diabetic nephropathy (DN) in DM2 patients treated at the Telehealth and Telemedicine Functional Unit of Hospital Cayetano Heredia between June and September 2021.Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out that included 195 consecutive patients with DM2 selected by means of a systematic sampling in whom the risk factors associated with DN were studied. The association of ND risk factors was evaluated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression to estimate the crude and adjusted OR with their respective 95% confidence intervals. Results: The crude analysis of factors showed a significant association between diabetic nephropathy and the following factors: duration of DM2, schooling, age at diagnosis of DM2, history of smoking, family history of DN, retinopathy, treatment with antihypertensives, with gabapentin, with atorvastatin, with insulin, anemia, uric acid, and neutrophil lymphocyte index. Multivariate analysis showed the independent association of the following factors: duration of DM2, schooling, retinopathy, treatment with insulin, gabapentin, atorvastatin, and uric acid. Conclusions: the significant factors associated with DN were the duration of DM2, schooling, retinopathy, treatment with insulin, with gabapentin, with atorvastatin, and uric acid concentrations.
