Background: Sex disparities in dental caries have been observed in rural populations, especially in terms of the use of oral health services. It is important to be able to elucidate the determinants that may influence access to services for both groups, in order to focus and focus more attention on the most vulnerable group. Objective: To associate dental caries without treatment with the use of dental services according to the sex of the people in a rural community in Peru in 2018. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study, secondary source. The data collected in 2018 by the Waynanuna group of the Academic Department of Social Dentistry of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia from a rural population were analyzed. The results were analyzed according to the study variables. The statistical program Stata® v. 15. In addition, a descriptive, bivariate and multivariate analysis was performed. For all the analyzes, a confidence level of 95% will be had and the p values are reported. Results: No association was found between the number of untreated caries lesions and the use of dental services in both sexes; no differences were found between these either. Conclusion: Although no association was found of dental caries without treatment with the use of dental services, an association with a higher frequency of brushing was found in the rural community of Peru in 2018. In addition, within the group of women there may be differences, for future research.
