Fine flounder (Paralichthys adspersus) is a relatively new species for Peruvian aquaculture. So far, there are few reports about the diseases and microorganisms associated with the culture of this species, however, the intensification of its breeding may predispose to the development of both infectious and non-infectious diseases. Vibrios are aquatic bacteria that inhabit marine and brackish environments which are present in the microbiota of marine fish, however, there are pathogenic species associated with infectious diseases in flatfish. The aim of this study was to isolate and molecularly identify Vibrio strains in the intestines of fine flounder from the fishing and from culture in the Ancash department. Bacterial strains were identified by sequencing the 16S rRNA and hsp60 genes. 35 Vibrios strains belonging to the Harveyi, Scophthalmi, Splendidus, Damselae and Fischeri clades were isolated. Through the present study, it is concluded that Vibrios are present in the intestinal microbiota of fine flounder from aquaculture and fishing, including species with pathogenic potential for fine flounder.
