Introduction: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination has been one of the most cost-effective measures to control the dissemination of this disease across the world. Objective: To determine the intention of health care workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of the vaccination campaign in Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using an anonymous online survey. Snowball sampling was used to capture the largest number of workers from the National Institute of Child Health in Peru. After quality control procedures to exclude incomplete and invalid questionnaires, 1004 complete surveys were analyzed. A descriptive analysis and Logistic regression was used to model. Result: Of the 1004 health workers who completed the study, 814 (81.1%) were willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. In the multiple logistic regression, those more predisposed to get vaccinated in a significative manner were medical doctors (OR = 18.32; 95% CI = 8.07-41.58), appointed staff (OR = 2.46; 95% CI = 1.16-5.21) and workers diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 3 months of the survey (OR = 3.18; 95% CI = 1.11-9.06). The 190 (18.9%) belonging to the rejection group had as the main influencing factor concerns about the vaccine’s safety (82.1%), followed by its efficacy (12,6%) and the lack of information about it (12,1%). Conclusions: The majority of workers from the National Institute of Child Health in Peru intends to receive the vaccine against COVID-19 and that safety of the vaccine is the main reason for not being willing to be vaccinated.
