Background: Biochemical-metabolic images contribute to the monitoring of lesions in all their stages; the main indication: oncology. The most widely parameter used is the Standardized Uptake Value (SUV). Studies suggest do research in the metabolic quantification of lesions ≤ 10 mm in PET. Objective: Determine the SUV in lesions’ simulation ≤ 10 mm in air and lung manikin with radioactive pointed sources of ¹⁸F-FDG. Material and Methods: Experimental study based on: 36 simulations in air and 36 simulations in lung manikin. The numerical variables were described using measures of central tendency; the medians of the SUVPET and the SUVtheoretical in air and lung manikin were compared using the non-parametric Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test. Results: It was evidenced that the accuracy for the SUVPETmax for the range from 2.7 mm to 5 mm it was 74.2 ± 40% and from 5.1 mm to 10 mm it was 351.4 ± 73.2% for simulations in air; in the same sense, for lung manikin simulations it was 141.3 ± 48.6% and 318.6 ± 67.3%, respectively. Conclusion: The percentage accuracy of the SUVPETmax, SUVPETmed and SUVPETmin values presented a value greater than 5%; it was demonstrated and evidenced that its determination is complicated given the difficulties in the measurements for this range of sizes.
