This paper aims to present the development of a clinical case of mild depression performed during a rotation at a national health institute located in Lima. The case is of a senior patient, diagnosed with a second stage non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, who at the time of arriving at the outpatient clinic had not yet begun his oncological treatment, as he had a tuberculosis condition that should be treated in the first instance before starting radiotherapy treatment. The main objective is to reinforce internal cognitive and emotional resources to face oncological diagnosis in the patient with mild depression. For this purpose, the methodology is focused on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; from there, the techniques of active listening, psychoeducation, training in diaphragmatic breathing techniques, guided imagination, training in assertive communication techniques, validation of emotions, exploration of thoughts and cognitive restructuring, Socratic dialogue, programming and structuring of activities were used. The results achieved have been a decrease in depressive symptomatology, from the emotional, cognitive, behavioral and social areas, which achieved in the patient a healthier coping with his oncological diagnosis. It is possible to conclude that the intervention from the methodology chosen for this case of mild depression has been very useful in a situation of oncological diagnosis.
