The objective of this study is to construct and obtain the psychometric evidence of tha Post-traumatic stress inventory after childbirth (PTSD-PAR). The instrument initially constructed had 20 items and was applied to 360 women who gave birth in a hospital and 317 who were treated in a clinic, having given birth in the last six months was taken as a time criterion. The instrument shows content validity with scores higher than 0.80 (Aiken V). Likewise, in the item analysis, it was decided to eliminate item 11 due to its low contribution to the test. An exploratory factor analysis was carried out with the new version of 19 items, where a four-factor model was obtained. In the confirmatory factor analysis, adequate indices of goodness of fit of the model were obtained, therefore, the new dimensions of the test ended up being: negative, perception of childbirth, alteration of mood, cognitive alteration that hinders attachment and alteration of the state alert. The instrument presents a hight reliability of stability and internal consistency. Finally, there are significant differences in terms of the degree of instruction, for which, specific norms were developed, in addition to the general scale. The instrument is useful to detect the attribute in terms of presence and intensity: absent, mild and intense post-traumatic stress after delivery.
