The purpose of the study was to validate the explanatory integrative model of treatment adherence in patients with chronic renal insufficiency based on the variables: doctor-patient relationship, self-efficacy, emotional state, and perceived social support. The type of investigation was substantive, of an explanatory level and hypothesis testing, the sample was made up of 245 patients with dialysis treatment from the city of Lima; the surveys technique and instruments validated by the Aiken method and Cronbach's Alpha. The result showed that the explanatory integrative model on treatment adherence presented an adequate fit in the study carried out in patients with chronic renal insufficiency. The fit indices obtained were X2=108,430, (TLI) =. 971, (RMSEA)=.038, (GFI)=.944, (CFI)=.978, (IFI)=.978. In the model he explained that the variables that presented a significant influence on treatment adherence were the Doctor-Patient Relationship and perceived social support; the other predictor variables Self-efficacy and Emotional State presented not significant implications. It is argued the implications of proposing a new model of intervention in public health through multidisciplinary work with other professionals involved in the subject, as well as working with validated instruments in patients with chronic renal insufficiency.
