The objective of this study was to determine the knowledge and practices of the population of Lima Metropolitana regarding dengue virus, including transmission, symptomatology, prevention, and vector reduction. 416 residents of Lima Metropolitana in ages between 18 and 70 years were surveyed from January through May 2021 using a closed descriptive survey with 23 questions. The survey was distributed virtually through different district municipalities’ social media accounts, an NGO’s social media account and through the “Snowball” sampling method. 390 results were obtained according to inclusion criteria. 98.7% of the studied population was previously aware from the disease, of which 93.3% knew about the transmission method. Fever was the most recognized symptom; television and internet were the most common sources of information. 68.7% of the population avoid storing water in their homes and 84.5% avoid keeping waste that may accumulate water. It was concluded that the studied population was well informed, and the majority avoids any risk practices with regards to the disease.
