The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the commercial product Emerald®, which contains a mixture of microencapsulated essential oils, as a food supplement for tilapia, through the evaluation of zootechnical, hematological and intestinal bacteria parameters. Out of a total of 520 juvenile tilapia with an average weight of 10 ± 1.17 grams, two groups were randomly formed, a group with treatment supplemented with 1% EA and another control group fed without the commercial product for a period of 60 days with a fortnightly weight check. At the end of the experimental period, the hematological parameters and intestinal bacteria were taken and analyzed. The bacterial populations were enumerated and differentiated by their growth in 3 different agars, Hektoen, Bacillus Hicrome and GSP. The results showed that the mean final weight increased by 20.74% in the group supplemented with 1% A.E, compared to the control group. In the mean leukocyte count, an increase of 45.75% was found in the group supplemented with 1% AE. On the other hand, a decrease in CFU was found in the group supplemented with 1% A.E in the species sown on Hektoen and Bacillus agar of 95 and 87% respectively. Therefore, it is concluded that the use of A.E Emerald® 1%, as a nutritional supplement, is an efficient alternative for the improvement of the productive index.
