Background: Within the radiological field, "risk" is defined as a possible harmful impact on health, outside this field, "risk" has other meanings, such as the threat of an undesirable event. This event today involves the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The medical technologist in radiology (TMR) plays an important role in assisting in the diagnosis of this disease; however, it is important that said professional has the necessary knowledge about the risk caused when working with ionizing radiation. Objective: Describe the level of knowledge of the TMR on the radiological risk and infection by SARS-CoV-2 during the state of emergency in Metropolitan Lima in 2020. Material and Methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study that evaluated the TMR of the Lima Metropolitan area exposed to SARS-CoV-2. For this, an instrument was designed which was validated through judges' criteria. This instrument was distributed through the virtual platform Google Form. Results: When evaluating the level of knowledge about radiological risk, it was found that 21% of the TMR had a high level, 75% a medium level and 4% a low level; while the level of knowledge about the risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2 reported that 63% of TMR have a high level, 35% have a medium level and 2% have a low level. Conclusion: The TMR of Metropolitan Lima has a medium level of knowledge about radiation risk, and an adequate level of knowledge about the risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2.
